I think I’m going to continue this puppy progress diary until 16weeks(?) with 2 weeks at a time. Then maybe I’ll do monthly or two-monthly updates.
In the last 2 weeks Doug has learnt to climb stairs.. He could only go up the first 3 at first (the rest are a little taller) but now by 10 weeks he can run all the way to the top – at and speed I might add! Unfortunately for little Doug, he can’t get back down the stairs yet. But this is also very annoying as I have to continuously retrieve him from the top of the stairs.. pretty much all day long. To add to this, we don’t have anything at the bottom of the stairs to stop him from going up.. and apparently climbing stairs all day long is pretty fun. Painful for me.
He’s learnt the command ‘sit’ – although I’m not sure he fully recognises the word yet or just understands he must sit for food.. But we’ll get there soon I’m sure.
He still hasn’t been in the garden yet, the vet said we should wait 2 weeks from his last set of injections – but I think we’ll let him out a bit sooner than that – After all, we have Todd who goes out and brings all the dirt and nasty ‘bugs’ inside anyway, so he will already have a greater immunity than other puppies who have been in a cleaner animal-free home. But we’re obviously still waiting for his second set of injections next week first.
The main difference in Doug in the last couple of weeks is his naughty chewing behaviour – Previously I would distract him when he chewed the wrong things, now he’s becoming less distracted and more determined to chew up anything and everything. I guess he must be teething pretty bad. Or he’s just super naughty. Hoping for the first. He’s also really hyper, all the time. Running around frantically for no reason is a must. Especially at 10pm at night before bed. Fun.
Todd also tried to mount him a few days ago. I think its a dominance thing… Otherwise they’re getting on pretty damn fine!
