He’s getting so big he’s almost dog-size! Feeling slightly nostalgic at his puppyness even though it was only a few weeks ago! He still has a fair way to go until he’s full size, but he’s sure getting there swiftly.
I remember saying to Grant that when he could jump on the sofa he was officially a dog and not so babyish. Well at 14 weeks (just two days ago in fact!) he can now do just that.
He can also run down the stairs at speed without landing on his face. His teeth are now vicious weapons of destruction to all, and especially to Todd and us humans.
We’ve had more item-losses… A laptop charger, a dog bed ripped apart and also a toy. Needless to say, I wasn’t overly impressed.
We’ve also started going to a puppy training socialisation group. It’s only £2 a session and whilst it isn’t run with a particular organisation, it’s really good for just meeting other puppies and letting them all have a play.
It’s also somewhere for us humans to gets tips and exchange ideas on training with other owners. Surprisingly, at our first session, Doug was terrified. We really didn’t expect this at all as he’s well socialised with Todd – but he was having none of it and was reluctant to go near any other dog.
By the end of the session, however, he had taken a particular fancy to a 15 week Maltese named Poppy. He even remembered her on our second session and perked straight up when she entered the room. He’s still slightly unsure about the other dogs – I think possibly because they’re all a bit bigger and older whereas Poppy is a similar age and the same size. It was so cute to watch them play though! In a completely different way to how he plays with Todd as well.
He has so much energy at the moment – much more energy than I have! It’s increasingly difficult to get a decent photo of him when he’s not asleep. This is what it ends up like…
He just doesn’t stop for a second! He also likes to pounce straight at the camera. Everything is a toy in puppy-world. We’re hoping to take both dogs to a dog-friendly beach tomorrow if the weather is good and I’m looking forward to his first experience of the sea.
I’ve been lazy in so many ways recently, a trip out is what I need. I also need to keep up with his training! Note for the next few weeks. Here are some pics from the last couple of weeks anyway…
