Since this blog is all about the home and garden, I thought I would share a recent visit to one of the most gorgeous gardens I’ve ever visited!
Last week we had the very last (I hope not – but probably so!) bout of summer sunshine, so we decided to take full advantage of it and head out to visit the PureLand Japanese Gardens. It was actually only a 20 minute drive from our house, so I don’t know why I hadn’t visited before.
A brief introduction about PureLand: It’s basically the back garden of Japanese born mediation teacher, Maitreya. Since moving to the UK and missing the hilly scenery of Japan, Maitreya created his own piece of Japan, right in his own back yard. Don’t be fooled though – this place is pretty large! It’s beyond stunning, spectacular, peaceful and everything you would expect from a Japanese garden.
I’ve always wanted to visit Japan and I think this garden has made that desire even more so! It also reminded me a little of our trip to Thailand and the royal gardens we visited in Chiang Mai. Ah, how I miss you, Thailand.
I think photos speak greater than words here, so here’s a few snaps of this stunning place:
It was such a relaxing and lovely place to be. We only spent a couple of hours here, mainly sat around watching the fish and soaking up the sunshine, but I definitely think I’ll be returning again. I hear it’s also open evenings for night-time viewings, so I reckon I’ll be back again for that at some point 😉 Entrance costs are just £7 per adult and £4 per child (over 5). The garden is open from March-October every year. You can find out a little more info here if you’re interested 🙂
Do you have any beautiful gardens in the UK to recommend to me? I love discovering new little places of beauty! Particularly ones close to home!
